How ballroom dancing changed our lives

Ballroom dancing is improving lives at Kirsty Marshall's Academy of Dance.

Ballroom and latin dancing

Physical exercise makes people feel better physically and mentally. According to the NHS being physically active can reduce early death by up to 30%. The positive endorphins and serotonin work wonders on many individuals, but how does ballroom and latin dancing play a part in this?

According to the International Dance Teachers Association dance is a “social skill” that many individuals carry with them for the rest of their lives, as well as a way to improve stamina and flexibility. Showing that dancing improves mental and physical health. You can dance for fun, attend classes and lessons and you can compete against individuals across the country.

We visited Kirsty Marshall’s Academy of Dance where dance has become a form of therapy for people across Yorkshire. Where individuals waltz away their stress, while friendships are formed, and lasting memories made.
